Former President of Georgia, Mihail Saakashvili, was removed from the title of Honorary Doctor of Yerevan State University (YSU). Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, stated that Saakashvili's honor was received in his statement on his social media account.

After deciding to apply to the YSU Science Council to deprive the Georgian politician of his honorary title, Harutyunyan said, "The Yerevan State University Science Council unanimously decided to deprive former Georgian President Mihail Saakashvili from the title of honorary doctor of the YSU." .

It was announced that Saakashvili's "Armenian identity, right to life, right to self-determination and creation in its land" was given the title of honor on the grounds of its support to Azerbaijan.

Saakashvili recently named Nagorno-Karabakh as "the sovereign region of Azerbaijan" in his statement on his social media account.
