Government prepares new aid package for citizens

The Georgian government is working on a package of additional measures to support businesses and citizens.
 Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia held a meeting today with Koba Gvenetadze, President of the Government Economy Group and director of the Georgian National Bank.
In the meeting, it was announced that measures to be implemented within the scope of the 4th phase of the anti-crisis plan, which will include both social and commercial support in accordance with the dynamics of Georgia's economic situation, were discussed.
In his statement, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated that the government seems inadequate in terms of social support to businesses and citizens, given the global epidemic in Georgia and the resulting economic crisis.
Emphasizing the importance of the aid target at this stage of the fight against the epidemic, the Prime Minister said that the available resources should be distributed equally to all sectors of the economy or to the citizens who need the most help in the current situation.
The meeting also discussed the economic situation in the country and the effectiveness of the measures taken by the government in all three phases of the anti-crisis plan.
